As temperatures begin to drop, the Charitable Union of Battle Creek is asking the community for help to keep the most vulnerable people warm.
Founded in 1887, Charitable Union is Battle Creek’s oldest charitable organization and remains true to its original purpose of providing clothing and household items to those in need. The nonprofit at 85 Calhoun St. provides free clothing, personal care items, formula, steel-toed shoes, and household items to Calhoun County residents living with Bridge Cards, Medicaid and WIC.
In partnership with local schools, businesses and organizations, Charitable Union has launched its annual Winter Coat and Gear Drive, which provides more than 2,000 warm coats, hats, gloves and scarves to people in the need.
