Wander Beauty Pack Up & Glow Priming Mineral SPF 40 Review

Without sunscreen, my skincare routine is incomplete and quite counterintuitive. One of my biggest skin issues is the discoloration of my dark spots and hyperpigmentation. No matter how many retinol serums, vitamin C serums or dark spot correctors I use, I know that sunscreen is the key to actually seeing progress. I really can’t go a day without it, and if I do, I notice my spots darkening in as little as 24 hours. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for options with sleek formulations that I’ll want to use every day.

Wander Beauty released their new Pack Up & Glow Priming Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 ($36), and I knew I had to put it to the test. The brand is known for creating multitasking beauty products in smart, travel-friendly packaging. It’s no surprise that sunscreen is following suit; it’s moisturizer, sunscreen, and primer in one product, effectively streamlining three distinct steps in your morning routine. What intrigued me the most was that the brand promises a white cast-free finish with an SPF of 40, which is at the high end of what I’ve seen and tried so far.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and after realizing how overwhelmed I was for it compared to the other options on my stash, I knew I’d found a new base SPF. Wander Beauty is best known for its hit Baggage Claim glam under-eye masks, but this sunscreen takes the cake, in my opinion.

What I love about Wander Beauty Pack Up & Glow Priming Mineral SPF 40

As promised, this sunscreen leaves absolutely no white marks. It comes as a peachy-toned coral cream that blends as you blend and leaves a glowing finish that leaves skin looking sunkissed – almost like a pearlescent skin highlighter. The Up & Glow Priming Mineral SPF Pack has a lightweight, hydrating feel that isn’t greasy, sticky, or heavy on skin, even in the humidity or on the hottest days. It’s made with plant-derived squalane and hyaluronic acid to hydrate, bisabolol and allantoin to soothe irritation, and an antioxidant complex to fight free radicals. In addition, the illuminating finish and satiny touch have a skin-perfecting effect, which prepares my skin for my makeup routine. In fact, this sunscreen is actually a great base for natural “my skin but better” looks using skin tones and a glamorous, more covering look.

I have tried and tested many sunscreens to find the best ones on the market. Finding the one that matches my criteria and needs is almost as hard as dating someone. However, from the sleek, hydrating texture to the luminous finish, I would swipe right on this sunscreen every time.

One concern I initially had with this sunscreen was the percentage of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in the mineral formula, which I feared would not be enough to provide optimal sun protection. (It’s about one percent zinc oxide and two percent titanium dioxide.) After speaking with Wander Beauty’s Director of Product Development, Elizabeth Rentschler, she clarifies, “A proprietary technology involving the way coated with zinc oxide contains antioxidants and other ingredients that help optimize the potency of the zinc oxide itself and increase UV filter performance. The special coating helps the zinc oxide work as effectively as possible, meaning less UV filter can be used to achieve higher SPF protection. stabilizes the mineral UV filter (zinc oxide), which optimizes its anti-UV power. This is why we can use lower levels of assets. This helps explain why there isn’t that chalky feel you get from some other mineral-based sunscreens, and also a breathable feel on the skin.

Who can use the Wander Beauty Pack Up & Glow Priming Mineral SPF 40?

Since it doesn’t leave any white marks on my skin, this sunscreen is suitable for anyone with tanned or darker skin. The brand says it’s best to use the two finger rule when applying SPF, which means that two strips of sunscreen from the base of the index and middle finger to the tips should be used for your face and neck. Pro tip for easy SPF blending and application: apply half the portion of SPF and blend it, then layer the remaining half on top for optimal SPF coverage and a sleek blend without white streaks.

I have fairly normal skin type that leans more sensitive, and this SPF is non-irritating. I can skip my morning moisturizer and use that instead. It feels virtually weightless on my skin and doesn’t leave a greasy or heavy feeling, which is great for oily skin. If you have dry skin, you can always layer sunscreen over moisturizer, as it works well with other products and doesn’t pill.
