The paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) takes place here at the Setia City Convention Center. Today is the last day of the exhibition which takes place this weekend from March 19 to 20, 2022. One of the brands present at the expo is Ford, which has brought a selection of 4X4 models to the edition of this year.
The Ranger Pickup is a perennial bestseller for the Blue Oval, and continued interest brings another version of the T6 generation Double Cab Loader, the Ranger XLT Plus Special Edition, priced at RM136,888.
As its designation suggests, it’s based on the XLT Plus trim variant which incorporates the manufacturer’s 2.0-litre EcoBlue four-cylinder turbodiesel engine producing 180hp and 420Nm of torque, which is mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. 10R80 gears.
Added to the XLT Plus kit, and unique to the Special Edition variant, is a Raptor-style grille with Ford script in all caps. Differentiating from the full-size Raptor element is the “Ranger” script on the top, which is also blacked out and devoid of chrome.
Mirroring the XLT Plus kit slate, the Special Edition also includes LED headlights, side steps, Easy Lift tailgate, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, two multi-information displays, a SYNC 3 infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system and a backup camera recoil.
Joining the XLT Plus Special Edition is another Ranger, the Wildtrak, which starts from RM152,388. This ups the ante on several fronts, first with a powertrain of the same displacement, but with 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque on tap in its Bi-Turbo configuration. Transmission is also via the 10R80 10-speed automatic, with SelectShift priority.
The Ranger Wildtrak’s active safety kit includes forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control; the passive safety kit includes six airbags.
Additional Ranger Wildtrak amenities also include semi-automatic parallel parking, which scans for parking lots and steers itself into the parking space. Interior appointments include leather seating, dual-zone automatic climate control, SYNC 3 infotainment system with eight-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Audio comes with a set of six speakers and also offers active noise cancellation.
Rounding out the trio of models on display on the Ford stand here at PACE, the Everest of RM268,888, a ladder-frame SUV that brings three-row seating to the proceedings. As with the Ranger double-cab pick-ups on display on the stand, the Everest is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine developing up to 213hp and 500Nm, mated to an automatic gearbox with 10 reports. Here, the seven-seater gets a very slight visual overhaul thanks to a new grille.

This includes a Good RM500 for auto coating and paint protection film (Kuzig Glanz), a Good RM500 for auto window film and auto coating (V-Kool), a Voucher RM500 for air purification solutions (Blueair), a RM500 voucher for child car seats (Recaro Kids) and a RM500 voucher for lifestyle products from Ogawa.
