It has been a busy year for the people of Our Place. So far, the direct-to-consumer kitchenware brand has already released new knives, a beautiful cutting board that converts into a serving tray, mugs that celebrate pride all year round, and two new colors ( Heat and Terracotta) to embellish their best. selling Always Pan. But their latest launch has to be the happiest yet. We’re talking about the newest Always Pan frosting; a vibrant golden yellow hue that will add a lot of cheerfulness to your table this summer. Meeting: Zest.
I got to watch Zest up close and personal, and it truly is Our Place’s happiest color to date. Launched just in time to celebrate summer cooking, “and the joy of getting together”, the color makes me smile every time I walk past my stove, where it has now been since I took it out of the kitchen. 100% recyclable and biodegradable box it ships in.
Happy frosting aside, Zest still packs the famous multi-functionality of the Always Pans that came before it. So you can use it to braise, sear, steam, strain, sauté, fry, boil, serve and even store leftovers. The pot also includes a wooden spatula and a stainless steel steamer basket, and once you’re done cooking, everything fits together perfectly for easy storage. The Always Pan is also free of Teflon, PFAS and PTFE and partially made from materials ethically sourced from female-owned factory partners.
As for cooking with the pan, the non-stick surface is slippery and smooth, requiring very little oil to prepare dishes that slide straight from the pan. In fact, I’ve owned the Always Pan in the OG Spice color for over a year now, and it’s the only pan I use to cook delicate items like omelets, dosas, and Korean pancakes just because that it is easy to turn without worrying about food on the surface. Plus, the pan features a heavy gauge cast aluminum core for quick cooking, which always results in evenly cooked dishes.
As a bonus, Our Place says the Always Pan is dishwasher safe. But I would recommend washing your pan by hand to ensure its longevity and to prevent the nonstick coating from getting scratched, and while it feels like an extra chore, it’s breezy, thanks to the smooth surface that takes less than a minute. to clean.
And while the casserole has several advantages, there are also a few drawbacks to keep in mind before you checkout. For starters, the Always Pan does not go in the oven, which can be a downside for those looking to give that nice crisp brown top to their dishes. The handle is also long and cumbersome to store, but if this is your everyday stove, then it will likely sit on your stove top and you won’t have to worry about the hassle of storage. Finally, several customers have noticed that the enamel begins to flake over time. As I mentioned earlier, I have been using my Always Pan for over a year now and so far have not had any shredding issues. But I also tend to err on the side of caution and have never washed my pan except by hand.
With all of these factors in mind, if you’re looking for a chic but useful cookware upgrade, Our Place’s Always Pan is worth it! And in this bright and sunny glaze? You better get yours before it’s gone.
