What is the opportunity?
We repair carbon fiber bike frames at Ruckus Composites, but more than that, we help other riders get back on their bikes through an innovative blend of empathy and science.
In 2022, we need more help to keep our store running smoothly and to reduce our turnaround times. The Store Assistant will support all store operations as they arise. We’re a small, nimble company that takes on many unique jobs and tasks, so your tasks will constantly evolve. Ruckus is growing rapidly and the right person in this role will be in an ideal position to grow with us. If you are interested in a career in composites and/or the bicycle industry, we are a great place to start!
We are looking for an independent person who can learn new skills and apply critical thinking and problem solving. We are looking for someone who is passionate about their work, has an eye for detail, emphasizes accuracy and takes ownership of their tasks.
What will I do ?
The following encompasses many of the day-to-day tasks of this role, but Ruckus is a dynamic environment, so we all retain the flexibility to step in where we’re needed!
Support the painting and finishing team
– Accurately prepare frames for final finishing using prescribed techniques
-Hide and unmask frames before and after finishing process
-Carry out meticulous detailing of frames in preparation for returning them to the client
-Learn and develop the skills of painting and clear coating process
Support the composite repair team
-Learn and develop skills in repairing composite materials
-Assist in the preparation of carbon frames for repair
Support for shipping and receiving
-Receive, unpack and archive incoming frames
– Professionally pack and ship outgoing frames
-Prepare and organize shipping materials
Support the customer service team
-As a back-up to the Customer Repair Strategist, respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and walk-in interactions
– Fully adhere to Ruckus Composites quality assurance standards
– Actively participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
-Help keep the store clean, tidy and organized
-Learn and complete basic crafting projects
-Assist with various science/engineering related tests
What skills do I need?
-Love of bikes! (not mandatory but always a bonus)
-Desire to learn about carbon fiber and composite materials
– Positive attitude and team spirit
-Excellent attention to detail
– Desire to learn, improve and grow
– Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
-Strong and flexible communication skills
-Creative ability to solve problems, both individually and as a team
-Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
-Ability to stand and work in a standing position for up to eight hours
-Ability to work with both hands for long periods of time
-This position is a full-time hourly position (40h/week) from Monday to Friday.
-The work schedule is flexible.
-Salary: $20 / hour
