November is Global Vegan Month and as someone who shuns dairy I couldn’t be more thrilled.
This is the time of year when many brands put extra effort into their vegan ranges and I like it.
I tried some of The festive range of Plant Kitchen, including a Beef Wellington inspired sandwich, and I had mixed reviews.
I’m not always the biggest fan of strong Christmas flavors, but overall I was pretty impressed with the protein alternatives.
There is one item in particular that I would recommend to anyone trying vegan food in November (and honestly, you can’t even say it’s vegan!).
No turkey feast
If you like Christmas flavors, I think this is a good choice. It sounds a lot like a classic Christmas dinner, or maybe a Boxing Day sandwich would be the best description.
The protein choice has a really nice texture, which is often my biggest concern when trying a new plant-based protein.
What I liked was the texture of the onion, it was really off-putting.
But if you’re a fan of Christmas flavors and don’t mind a range of textures, I think this could be a really good option for you when looking for a lunchtime sandwich.
No Beef Welly
Sometimes I try foods and can’t bring myself to swallow them; it doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, it’s hard to forget.
It just tasted like bread and mustard, it was thick and mushy and offensive to my taste buds. I really struggled with this, if you like bread maybe this will be a good option.
But bread and mustard aren’t at the top of my list of favorite ingredients.
Hoisin without duck
I had heard rave reviews of this wrap before trying it, with one of my meat-eating friends swearing by it.
So I had high expectations and still found myself impressed.
It looks a lot like a real duck wrap, the flavor and texture are great and it’s really nice.
If you are trying to cut down on your meat intake, this is a great option and you should buy it.
Kitchen Plant churros
It wasn’t the first time I tried Kitchen Plant‘s churros, and I often find myself coming back for more.
They are quite mushy, but I think if you wanted a crispier churro it would be worth frying them rather than baking them.
It only takes ten minutes to cook the ten pack with a cinnamon sugar coating and hot chocolate dip on the side.
