I Tried Dunkin’ Donuts Fall 2022 Menu Items

Walk into any store over the next few weeks and you’ll likely be bombarded with “oh my gourd” puns, fall wreaths and other harvest-based decorations. This, of course, means one thing: pumpkin spice season is right around the corner. As summer draws to a close and the seasons begin to change, people can’t wait to kick off the fall season with pumpkin muffins, pumpkin-scented candles, and most importantly, spice lattes at the pumpkin.

But as someone who once worked as a barista, I’ve long shunned the tradition of ordering anything other than black coffee – at least until I saw Dunkin Donut’s Limited Edition Fall Menu which has just fallen. The Spicy Pumpkin lineup includes Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew (made with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam), Blood Orange Refreshers, and an all-new Pumpkin Hazelnut Coffee.

For the record, I’m not the only one who’s super excited about the new drink options — plenty of people are sharing their hype on social media, too.

So, in the name of being a team player, I bravely volunteered to sample some of Dunkin’s new drinks and snacks. As someone who exclusively drinks black coffee, you can imagine my surprise when every sip and every bite left me craving for pumpkin flavors and drinks. Here’s what you should try before the season ends.

Dunkin’ Blood Orange Refreshment

Blood orange refreshment is fresh on the menu this year with two ways to order it: with green tea or coconut milk. (I ordered mine with green tea because I read it was good for my skin.) When I tried it, I noticed that the cool seasonal drink brought together the citrus fruits of the blood orange, the acidity of cranberries and the spiciness of ginger and cinnamon. Personally, I’m really glad Dunkin’ launched this one as I need something chilly to combat the current heatwave. (Sorry, Dunkin’, ditching the fall menu sadly doesn’t get us any closer to cool fall temperatures.)

While it was a bit sweet for a black coffee drinker like me, the cranberry flavor popped in to add a hint of bitterness. I’m curious if I had opted for coconut milk, would that have reduced the sweetness? Or would it be closer to a vegan Thai iced tea? I will definitely be back to test this theory. Anyway, as long as it’s still warm, it could be the drink I bring to a Labor Day weekend picnic.

Pumpkin and hazelnut coffee

Like I said before, as a barista, I know the pumpkin, spice, and latte craze all too well, but Dunkin’s Nutty Pumpkin Coffee is so much better. The drink is the original blend iced coffee with swirl pumps of pumpkin, hazelnut, and cream. It’s the traditional pumpkin spice drink without the added splash of espresso. Personally, I liked using cream rather than steamed milk as it gave it a different texture and worked better with the sweetness. However, I am not the only one to have fully appreciated it.

The drink is ice cold or hot, but as a Queer™ I feel compelled to enjoy cold drinks because iced coffee is gay culture, duh, but alas, my little bisexual heart decided to sip a steaming cup of coffee on the most humid day of summer. So I enjoyed my hot cup of nutty pumpkin coffee while basking in the summer sun, and it was well worth it. However, if I had to pick a cold drink, pumpkin cold brew is back this year, and it’s one of my favorites. The Pumpkin Cream Cold Mousse is dusted with cinnamon sugar, so there’s no way you’ll forget Thotumn or Witch B*tch Fall (or however you prefer celebrating the end of Hot Girl Summer).

Bacon snackin with maple sugar

While maple sugar bacon snackin’ isn’t technically new to the fall lineup, I may have found a new use for it. There are eight snack-sized strips of bacon that come in a small pouch designed to be enjoyed on the go solo – or, in my case, with a four-legged friend. (Can snackin’ bacon be the new puppuccino? I gave in and fed it, and it was the cutest thing ever. It’s so fragrant that even a bumblebee walked by looking of pollen while I munched outside. You could say that I am one with nature, straight out of a Dunkin’ tale.

Between spicy fall drinks and savory snacks, Dunkin’s fall menu doesn’t disappoint — and almost makes me say goodbye to summer. Almost.
